SFC William R. Brown, 30 US Army Ranger & Special Forces
BN 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, N.C., died Nov. 6, 2006, when an Improvised Explosive Device detonated near his Humvee in the Panjwayi district of Kandahar. A native of White Settlement, TX, Brown enlisted in June 1994 as an infantryman. His assignments included 3rd BN, 75th Ranger Reg, Ft. Benning, GA and a successful 2-year tour in Dallas as a recruiter. After earning his Special Forces tab, he joined the 1st Battalion, 3rd SFG (A), as a weapons sergeant, where he served until his death. He served with Riley Stephens, his brother-in-arms.
